What this service is
An employer may designate an authorized representative to complete and sign Form I-9 on its behalf. Signature Line Services may serve in that capacity when the employer provides the necessary authorization and workflow. This is often useful for remote employees who need an in-person document review in the Greater Lansing area.

This is not a notarization
Form I-9 is not notarized as part of this workflow. The representative is acting for the employer, not performing a notarial act, and no notary seal is used unless a separate, independently required notarial act has been arranged.

Questions
Before you book
What employer authorization is needed before the appointment?
The employer must designate Signature Line Services as its authorized representative and provide the Form I-9 instructions, access, or return workflow that its representative must follow.
What should the employee bring to the I-9 appointment?
Bring the original documents the employee selects from the current Form I-9 Lists of Acceptable Documents and all employer-provided instructions. Signature Line Services cannot choose documents for the employee.
What happens during an authorized-representative appointment?
The representative follows the employer's workflow, physically examines the employee's original documents as required, and completes the employer-designated portion. No notary seal is used for this Form I-9 service.
How is the completed Form I-9 returned?
Return follows the employer-provided workflow, such as its designated portal or other instructions. The employer must supply that process before the appointment.
How does the service work for a remote employee?
The employer authorizes a local representative, supplies the workflow, and remains responsible for compliance. The remote employee then meets the representative in person with original acceptable documents.
